The 2017 Liebster Award

I am thrilled to announce that I have been nominated for the 2017 Liebster Award. This is absolutely amazing as I have only be blogging from around a month.

If you have never heard of it, the Liebster Award, it’s an award that recognises new bloggers. It allows you to get support and connecting with the blogging community and an excellent way for bloggers to be discovered. I am absolutely thrilled to accept this award.

The Liebster award is an award that only exists online and only for bloggers. It was created for bloggers to promote other bloggers. It is an awesome way to help encourage and motivate bloggers to keep blogging.

Receiving this award has inspired me to carry on blogging about my life living with a decorating and creating a fun and easy to ready blog while giving funny DIY tips along the way. This award is amazing because you simply nominate blogs that you feel need to be recognised. It’s amazing to see how brilliant the blogging community is at supporting and being there for one another. It doesn’t matter where in the world you are from, the blogging community has so much love and support for each other, it’s amazing!

Liebster is a German word that means valued, lovely, kind, dearest, beloved, pleasant, endearing, welcome, nicest, cute and sweetest.  The purpose of the Liebster Award is to give your blog greater exposure to the internet.

I was kindly nominated by the brilliant Amy McCarroll. She writes an amazing blog which covers a massive variety of things including relationships, beauty and fashion and travel and adventure. She is an amazing writer and you can check her blog out here and her Facebook page here.

Amy has asked me to answer some questions. Here are the questions and my replies:

What has been your biggest challenge with blogging?

While the words come easy to me, I find it hard to promot my work. To me it’s just me typing funny things about what happens when you live with a Painter and Decorator but thanks to the support from my fellow bloggers, I have realised that maybe, just maybe, my blog is worth reading and it makes my readers chuckle.

Tell us about your blog and why you started blogging.

My blog is about what my blog title says, my life with my Painting and Decorator partner Kev and the funny things we get up to along the way. The reason for starting my blog was to get his business a little more promotion and to give me a chance to do something that I love and that I hope I’m good at, writing. Once I’m in the zone and writing about something silly that Kev has done or got me to do, it’s very hard for me to stop.

What and who motivate you to write?

There is only one answer to that question, of course it is Kev. Without him I would not have a blog, it’s that simple. I’m so grateful that he is happy for me to write about him. He is extremely supportive of my blog (and not just because it promotes the business in a way), he’s also very supportive of my writing. As he recently told me, it’s good that you have found something that you’re actually good at (no sarcasm intended – he did actually mean it). He’s also now started saying, you could write about that in your blog, or that was quite funny, put it in your blog. He also now has a new nickname for me ‘My blogging princess’. I am so lucky to have a man like Kev that supports me and encourages me to write.

Who is your favourite blogger and why?

I haven’t really got one yet as I am new to blogging but there are some amazing bloggers out there that cover an amazing array of subjects. I’m having fun reading them all when I actually get a chance to sit down and read!

Item you can’t live without

That would be my mobile phone. I have in the past left my phone at home and realised on the way to work. I then returned home for it which made me late for work but I just had to have it. It’s amazing to think that I grew up in a era where you still sent letters and you had to call somebody off the house phone. I spent many an evening as a teenager sitting by the phone waiting for either my friends or my then boyfriend to ring, shouting at my mother not to answer it when it rung. Now it’s not just phone calls, it’s texts, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and various other social media sites, games, apps and even my blog appears on my phone. It’s amazing that I have enough time to check them all!

What is your number one tip for other bloggers?

The number one tip I have for other bloggers is the Facebook Blogging groups. Their a fantastic way of getting your blog out there and getting feedback from like-minded people. It’s good to get questions answered if your stuck with a particular thing to do with your blog. For example, recently I couldn’t decide whether I should take the leap and set up new social media under the blog name rather than have the blog linked to my personal accounts. The general feeling was in the long run it would be better for my blog to have them separate. The downside to this is I have to take the time to build the followers back up, but with the blogging communities on Facebook, it easier as most other bloggers will do a follow for a follow. It’s a brilliant way of getting your blog out there. If I hadn’t have done that, I wouldn’t have got nominated for the Liebster Award.

Now, I have to nominate several other new bloggers with followers less than 200. You can nominate as many as you would like. The nominations for the next Liebster Award are:
